WHAT IS SELF CONFIDENCE?

So many times we feel in our hearts that we want a change so we pursue it with enthusiasm at first, and then when it gets tough or we don’t see instant results, we feel discouraged, we self abandon or make excuses for why it’s ok to remain stuck.

We often hear that transformation takes effort, persistence, motivation and that is absolutely true but there is one fundamental building block that drives us and that is self confidence. I am here to tell you that when we get this concept right, it can be a real game changer for personal growth. What is self confidence anyway? Is it a personal trait? A virtue? A strength?

Self confidence is the feeling or belief that we can rely on ourselves, a firm trust to ensure that things will turn out well; furthermore it is a state of feeling certain about the truth of who we are, it is a feeling of self-assurance arising from our appreciation of our own abilities or qualities.

So now that we understand that it is a belief, we can relax and know that we have incredible power in molding it into what will best serve us. We can start thinking about ways in which we can improve our self confidence. This will require some time and tremendous patience, but again the investment is worth it because self-confidence is the main predictor of your life success. By the way, this is a common area that my clients seek help with, so I decided to blog about it today. Here are a few tips:

💞Spend conscious aware time with your thoughts, beliefs & behavioral patterns to figure out who you really are. Embrace it all, positive & negative to gain the knowledge that you need about yourself to make the necessary adjustments.  It’s the only way you can stop getting in your own way.

💞Always always know that you are worthy of having anything that our universe can provide. There are no exceptions here. This is everyone’s birthright.

💞Improve your willingness to take new steps by recognizing that you absolutely have the ability to cope with the worst case, which is failure. While it may feel uncomfortable it doesn’t kill you, it gives you the information you need to grow.

💞HUGE ONE – GET COMFORTABLE WITH FEELING UNCONFIRTABLE. This is a huge confidence booster. Seeing that you can stretch past your comfort limits and actually feel good about it in the end, will make you want to repeat that feeling. It’s a high!

💞Choose one bite size change you’d like to make, have a good plan and stay committed all the way to the finish line. All you need to do is act as you intended in your plan and monitor & celebrate your progress along the way, all the way to the end.

💞Become a master at something. Pick one thing you’d like to learn about and give yourself plenty of time to keep learning until you become really really skilled at it.
