SAY YES to JOY

SAY YES to JOY

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy”  Rumi

Seeing our world through a lens of joy is something we can all easily master. It really depends on only one thing…our level of awareness of our thinking, feeling & doing.

So often we put our lives on hold… instead of appreciating the way things are right now, we believe that we’ll be happy if external conditions changed at some future state. Let’s stop delaying and relying on these outside factors and turn inward to appreciate the beauty and the goodness in our current life, moment by moment, starting NOW. How do we do this? Easy peazy! Here are a few tips…

First, we must open up our heart & soul to allow joy to come in.  Next, we must accept that we are not the thinking mind, we are the one aware of our thinking mind. This allows us to intentionally step back, become the observer of the mind and discover the types of thoughts & feelings we’re experiencing and how these are fueling our mood.

The most amazing part of being the ones aware of the thinking mind is that we can easily choose and redirect our thoughts to be more positive and joyous. The easiest way to move towards positive thoughts and feelings and generate joy is by practicing gratitude. Finding gratitude in our daily outlook on life and our surroundings will begin a wonderful journey to a vibrant & joyous life.

Think of gratitude as the filter though which we run our thoughts throughout the day. We use this filter to extract joy. For example, when we’re outdoors we can direct our thoughts to and be grateful for the beauty and magical symmetry of all that surrounds us. When looking at the perfection that exists in nature, a perfection we can’t fully comprehend, what comes out of this filter of gratitude is pure joy & awe. When in the midst of suffering we can be grateful for the lessons we are learning. When we wake up we can be grateful for another day to spend with our loving families & friends. When at work we can be grateful for the pay & benefits of having a job. When walking in the house we can be grateful for having shelter. At a minimum, in every single moment we can be grateful for our breath and our ticking heart, because after all…without that we’d have nothing.

With time and practice and a relentless attitude of gratitude we can develop a higher and higher appreciation for the chunks of joyous moments in our life and start to experience an overall sense of joy and contentment, which many call happiness.

Have a wonderful & joyous day!Love,Dee ?
