Oh Mother Nature…How You’ve Taught Me
“Do not feel lonely, the entire universe is inside you.” – Rumi
Hello everyone! I hope you all had an amazing weekend with friends and family. Our hearts are full of joy after such an incredible weekend filled with friendships, laughter, relaxation, indulgence & awesome fireworks. We had close friends & family stay with us all weekend so our house was as full of energy as our hearts were with joy.
This morning they were suddenly all gone and naturally, feelings of sadness and loneliness had completely washed over me. As I continued to let the tears roll down my face, I decided to retreat to my favorite spot… which for me is outdoors where I’m surrounded by my beautiful flowers. As I could barely focus my eyes through my streaming tears, I took the camera and started to take pictures of my beauties. As I was patiently waiting for the wind to stop blowing to take the photo, a feeling of calmness, gratitude & love for what is left came over me. Nature has come through for me again. This very comforting feeling then inspired me to sit down and start writing, which is my favorite outlet when I’m feeling emotional. The story that came out of me is one about all the incredible lessons that I have learned while being out in nature, so I wanted to share…
FLEXIBILITY- when the wind blows, flowers & trees bend with it. They don’t resist the force that has unleashed upon them. When negative emotions wash over us, our tendency is to want to resist them. We fear the pain. Instead, we should acknowledge the pain, feel the pain and let it keep flowing through us and out of our bodies! It is resistance to it that creates energy blockages, which leave a more permanent mark.
The lesson: Be flexible enough to bend with the wind without breaking but do not get stuck lying down after the wind stops blowing.
PATIENCE- All flowers, plants & trees grow & bloom on their own timeline. The most amazing results come to us when we trust life will unfold exactly how it’s intended to. Our intuition is there to serve us in knowing when the time is right for everything in life. We need to silence the chatty mind which is heavily influenced by outside forces and listen closely to what our soul is whispering to us.
The lesson: Controlling our life circumstances is futile & stressful… instead, we need to be patient and trust that inside us is a built-in, well serving capability to process & manage life’s events and circumstances exactly as they unfold.
AUTHENTICITY- It is each flower’s uniqueness that gives it’s beauty. Flowers don’t compete with each other, they co-exist. Being our most authentic selves is what gives us the inner & outer beauty that others experience in us. The moment we try to be somebody else we step off our path and the natural flow of being who we’re meant to be is interrupted. Our energy is no longer pleasant.
The lesson: Be unapologetic about being you! There’s not a limited supply of beauty in this universe, we can all afford to be beautiful in our own way without creating a shortage.
INTENTION- Every tiny seed or bulb that we plant have intention built in. With the right nurturing they grow & become exactly the plant or flower they’re intended to become. Each one of us is born with a unique set of soul prints. The intention is built in us from the moment of creation. We simply have to pay enough attention to recognize what comes natural to us. A musician has the seed of music in them, an artist has a seed of art in them and so on.
The lesson: We must nurture our natural talents to grow into exactly who we’re intended to be. Never ignore these natural urges!
RESILIENCE- excessive heat or drought often leave plants looking droopy & stressed out but it’s just a state, a phase… it’s not the end all. If we right the conditions they’ll bounce right back. The same is true for us… stress, sadness, disappointment & insults are temporary states not permanent bruises. With enough acceptance, love & courage and the right perspective we can change our environment and bounce right back to a state of high energy and vibrancy. Each time we bounce back up we become more & more resilient.
The lesson: Train your mind to recognize a painful state, know that it’s temporary & pour enough love and gratitude into it to help you bounce right back.
DORMANCY- When the environment becomes so uncontrollably rough & damaging, plants enter a state where growth & development are temporarily halted. But even so, their life is not completely halted. At one point or another humans too will encounter such environments that can no longer be managed from within. Though in this state progress & growth may be temporarily halted, the will to live is still there. We just have to find the courage to leave the environment behind.
The lesson: It is up to each of us to recognize when we’re in a dormant state because of damaging environments. Know that it’s not the end all. Muster up the courage to do what it takes to tap into the will to live again.
I hope you enjoyed! Have a lovely day my friends! Love, Dee!
